As a creative writer, I’ve always loved sharing stories through features. Interviewing is an artform, and I enjoy the challenge of convincing strangers to share intimate details about their lives. I hope these features help further showcase my skills as a storyteller.
What Do I Think Makes a Good Feature?
- Good research prior to the interview
- A sense of trust and comfort between the subject and interviewer
- Questions that break the ice and provoke thoughtful responses
- Figurative language that paints a picture (more creative freedom here than with news pieces)
- A unique perspective drawn from quotes
- A creative title and hook
- A good balance between quotes and writer input
